This Forum is scheduled to coincide with World Polio Day on October 24 and is designed to raise awareness about the late effects of polio (LEoP – previously referred to as PPS or Post-Polio Syndrome) and its treatment.
Subjects covered may include sessions on pain and fatigue, breathing, sleep, advances in orthotics, polio vaccination, the needs of health professionals and the lived-experiences of people who have had polio. The programme is designed to be of interest to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, exercise physiologist, rehabilitation practitioners, orthotics providers, chiropractors, osteopaths, orthopaedic surgeons, neurologist, anaesthetists, public and community health practitioners including alternative health practitioners such as acupuncturists, GPs, DHB, PHO and Ministry of Health officials, and health researchers.
